What’s a Wind-up Vehicle?
Learners design and build a series of unique vehicles that zoom using a speedy spring-driven motor! This project kit is for learners in grades 2 and up.
It’s an engaging way to activate complex ideas, such as stored potential energy and released kinetic energy, all while emphasizing creative exploration and problem-solving.
It's a perfect 30 to 45-minute screen-free activity for grades 2 and up, with playful engineering extensions available in our educator guides.

What's made and learned?
This open-ended design challenge is a kit of parts—a wind-up mechanism, sturdy paper tubes, and a variety of unique, reusable foam wheels and structural components. Learners explore energy transfer, iterative design, and open-ended problem-solving through the engineering design process.
