FAQs

Can they be re-used?

Research shows that learners engage and and learn more deeply when they know what they're exploring can be theirs to keep. We've designed Sparks to be sturdy enough to be built, rebuilt, and kept by learners.

Who are Sparks for?

Sparks help educators and cargeivers confidently do STEM differently. They share our belief that learners thrive when they play, explore, and keep what they create. Sparks make playful engineering simple and affordable for any adult, anywhere, to lead purposeful hands-on learning with minimal prep and planning.

How much time do learners need?

Learners in classrooms, community programs, camps, or homeschool settings need 30 - 50 minutes to explore and create a core build. Most Sparks have extensions that can grow learning and iteration time to 90-minutes or more.

Learners at large family and community event tables or learning stations make select Sparks in ten to fifteen minutes. We offer sets of Sparks that are sure to be massive hits at large gatherings.

What do adults need to prepare?

If you're leading the activity, you can orient, practice and be ready to lead in twenty minutes or less. Each Spark has a educator playbook - activity plan, slide decks, and an educator-only video to build your confidence quickly.

Who manufactures them?

We do! Our team is based in Baltimore, MD - where Sparks are designed, tested, manufactured, and assembled in our modern facility using old-fashioned printing presses, new die-cutting machines, and industry 4.0 technology like lasers, 3D printers and robots! If you're in the neighborhood, drop us a line and we'll invite you for coffee!
