Learners build
A motorized thaumatrope that merges two drawings into one optical illusion.
Learners start by assembling a foam base, installing the motor, and testing the circuit. Then they plan a split image on a practice sheet before drawing it on stickers, choosing a mild, medium, or spicy split.
From there, three sticker sets mean plenty of new designs, and in a partner version two learners each draw half without looking. It connects art and design, English language arts, math, and science and engineering.
Educator Resources
Student-facing slides introduce the concepts, guide the activity, and help learners reflect on what changed. Educator materials support setup, pacing, discussion, and extensions so this can work in classrooms, libraries, homeschool groups, clubs, or makerspaces.
